Applications are invited in duplicate from eligible candidates for filling up one post of Vice-Chancellor, Central Institute of Buddhist Studies (CIBS), Leh, Ladakh, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, Govt, of India. Educational and other qualifications:
Deputation Essential Qualification:
Person of the highest level of competence, integrity, morals and institutional commitment shall be appointed as Vice-Chancellor. The Vice Chancellor to be appointed shall be a distinguished academician with a minimum of ten years of experience as Professor in a University system or ten years of experience in an equivalent position in reputed research and/or academic administrative organization
Desirable Qualification: i.
Doctorate Degree in Buddhist Studies/Buddhist Philosophy from a recognized University.
ii. Knowledge and fluency in written and spoken Hindi and English languages.
iii. Evidence of outstanding research and published works in national/international journals of repute or as well acknowledged books in the field of Buddhist Studies.
Upper Age Limit for Applying: Not exceeding 55 years on the closing date of receipt of application. Short-term Contract Qualification: As prescribed for deputation.
Upper Age Limit for Applying: Not exceeding 65 years on the closing date of receipt of application.
Note: The Vice-Chancellor shall be whole time salaried officer of the Institution Deemed to be University and shall be appointed by the Visitor/Chancellor from a panel of three names suggested by a Search cum Selection Committee.
i. The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a term of 5 years
ii. He shall be eligible for a second term provided that in no case shall he hold office beyond the age of 70 years.
iii. Notwithstanding the expiry of the period of 5 years, he may continue in office for not more than six months or till his/her successor is appointed and the latter assumes office, whichever is earlier.
iv. The Chancellor shall appoint the Vice Chancellor out of a Panel of three names recommended by the Search-cum-Selection Committee. Thereafter the proposal will be sent to ACC for approval.
v. The period of deputation including the period of deputation in any other ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization/ department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed 5 years.
6.
