Stages of Assam Combined Competitive Exam 2013 – Exam Syllabus & Written Exam Pattern
The Assam Combined Competitive Exam consists of two successive stages :
(I) The Assam APSC Preliminary Exam 2013 and
(II) The Assam APSC Main Exam (Written and Interview).
(I) Assam APSC Combined Competitive Preliminary Exam 2013 :
a) The Assam Combined Competitive Preliminary Exam will consist of two papers of objective type multiple choice questions of two hours duration each.

b) The Assam APSC Combined Competitive Exam Questions will be of Objective type with multiple choices.
c) OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) answer sheet will be provided for answering questions.
d) Candidates will have to use ONLY BLACK BALL PEN.
e) USE OF ERASER, CHEMICAL, CORRECTION FLUID for correcting options once marked in the OMR answer sheet is prohibited and answer sheets bearing traces of such use shall not be evaluated.
f) This Assam APSC Combined Competitive Exam 2013 is meant to serve as a screening test only.
g) The marks obtained in the Assam APSC Preliminary Exam by the candidates who are declared qualified for admission to the Main Examination will not be counted for determining the final order of merit.
Optional Subjects : Assam Combined Competitive Exam Syllabus 2013
a) Degree level courses of the Universities of the State of Assam.
b) The Assam PSC Combined Competitive Exam Syllabus of the subjects for the Preliminary Exam may be downloaded from the APSC website www.apsc.nic.in.
(II) Assam Combined Competitive Main Exam 2013 :
The Assam PSC Combined Competitive Main Exam consists of (A) Assam APSC Written Examination and (B) Interview Test.
(A) Written Examination for Assam PSC Combined Competitive 2013 :
a) On the results of the Assam APSC Combined Competitive Preliminary Exam 2013, the number of candidates to be admitted to the written part of the Main Exam will be 11 to 12 times the number of Assam PSC vacancies aforesaid. The selection will be strictly on the basis of merit adhering to the norms of Vertical and Horizontal Reservation as per prescribed law in force.
b) The APSC Assam Combined Competitive Written Exam 2013 will consist of the following papers of 3 hours duration each. The questions of the Exam will be of conventional essay type :

c) The Assam PSC Combined Competitive Exam Syllabus of the subjects for the Main Examination may be downloaded from the APSC website www.apsc.nic.in.
Any two subjects are to be selected from the list of optional subjects set out below. Each subject will have two papers of 200 marks each as aforesaid.

Candidates WILL NOT be allowed to offer the following combinations of subjects :
(a) Anthropology & Sociology.
(b) Mathematics & Statistics.
(c) Philosophy & Psychology.
(d) Agriculture & Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science.
(e) Not more than one of the Engineering subjects.
(B) Assam PSC Interview Test 2013 :
a) On the results of the Written part of the Assam APSC Combined Competitive Main Exam 2013 the number of candidates to be called for Assam PSC Interview will be about twice the number of vacancies advertised. The selection will be strictly on the basis of merit adhering to the norms of Vertical and Horizontal Reservation as per prescribed law in force.
b) The Assam APSC Interview will carry 200 marks with no qualifying marks.
c) The candidates will be interviewed by the Commission with the assistance of advisers deputed by the Government of Assam.
d) The marks scored at the interview will be added to the marks scored in the written part of the Main Examination and the ranking of the candidates will be determined on the basis of the total marks obtained.
e) The Assam Public Service Commission shall recommend exactly the same number of candidates for different posts as notified.
f) The candidates will be allotted Cadre strictly on the basis of merit cum preferences opted by candidates in their applications for the Assam Combined Competitive Main Exam 2013.
g) The Assam Public Service Commission APSC Recruitment 2013 shall not recommend a candidate for a post which he/she has not opted for.
Admission Certificates :
a) Admission certificate and candidates attendance sheet indicating the Roll Number will be issued to the candidates who are admitted to the examination.
b) The mere fact that a certificate of admission has been issued will not imply that candidature of his/her has been finally cleared by the Commission. Candidates may note that the Commission takes up the verification of the eligibility conditions only after the candidates have qualified for the Assam Combined Competitive Main Exam 2013.
c) Candidates must produce an identity proof like Pan Card / Driving License / Voter ID Card / Bank Pass Book containing photograph / ID Card issued by the Educational Institution where he / she is studying presently / ID Card issued by Government or public Sector undertaking.
d) The Assam Public Service Commission Recruitment 2013 reserves the right to cancel the candidature of any Candidate as and when any ineligibility condition is detected. If any information declared by the candidates is found to be false at any stage; they will be penalized as per law / rules.
e) The decision of the Commission as to the eligibility or otherwise of a candidate for admission to the examination shall be final.
Assam APSC Combined Competitive Preliminary Exam Centres 2013 :
a) The centres for the Assam PSC Combined Competitive Preliminary Exam 2013 are : BONGAIGAON, BARPETA, DHUBRI, DIBRUGARH, DHEMAJI, DIPHU, GOLAGHAT, GOALPARA, HAFLONG, JORHAT, KOKRAJHAR, KARIMGANJ, MANGALDOI, MORIGAON, NAGAON, NALBARI, NORTH LAKHIMPUR, SILCHAR, SIVASAGAR, TEZPUR, TINSUKIA AND GUWAHATI.
b) The Assam PSC Combined Competitive ( Main ) Exam will be held in Guwahati only.
c) Exact date of Assam Combined Competitive Main Exam will be notified in due course.
d) The Centres and the date (even after it is notified) for holding examination may however be deferred by the Commission at its discretion. Candidates admitted to the exam will be informed of the time table and place or places of examination. The candidates should note that no request for change of centre will be granted.
