Note :
The above PNB Bank Clerk vacancies include backlog vacancies also. These vacancies are primarily in rural and semi – urban areas. The selected candidates are likely to be posted in these areas.

Note :
1. Candidates belonging to reserved categories for which no vacancy has been announced are free to apply against vacancies announced for Unreserved / General category provided they meet the PNB Bank eligibility criteria laid down for General Category candidates . The number of Punjab Bank Clerk vacancies and also the number of reserved vacancies are provisional and may vary according to the actual requirements of the PNB Bank.
2. The Punjab National Bank Clerical recruitment would be on State – wise basis. Candidates can apply for vacancies in one State / UT only and should have appeared for the test from a centre allotted for that specific State / UT. Possessing knowledge of local language of the state for which candidate is applying is desirable.
3. As the reservation for OC / HI / VI and Ex – Servicemen candidates is on horizontal basis, the selected candidates will be placed in the appropriate category to which the candidate belongs. The definitions of the categories of disability shall be as per Govt. of India guidelines. It is clarified that it may not be possible to employ physically challenged candidates at all offices / branches of the Bank and they will have to work in the posts identified by the Punjab National Bank as suitable for them.
Eligibility Criteria for Punjab National Bank Clerk Jobs 2012 :
(A) Nationality / Citizenship :
A candidate must be either i) a Citizen of India or ii) a subject of Nepal or iii) subject of Bhutan or iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania ( formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar ), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination / interview conducted by the Bank but on final selection, the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility Certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.

Note :
I. The PNB Bank Clerk educational qualification prescribed for the posts is minimum. Candidates must possess above qualifications as on 01.08.2011, and must submit marks sheets & Degree / Provisional Certificate issued from the University, if called for PNB Bank Personal Interview 2012.
II. Candidates must specifically indicate the class / division and percentage of marks obtained calculated to the nearest two decimals in the relevant column of the PNB Bank Clerk Vacancy 2012 application. Where no percentage of marks is awarded by the University, but only CGPA / OGPA / DGPA is awarded, the same should be converted into percentage in terms of conversion norms of university in this regard, besides indicating the CGPA / OGPA / DGPA in the application. Candidates will have to produce document evidencing conversion formula of university if called for Punjab National Bank Clerk interview 2012.
III. Candidates should hold a valid IBPS Score Card & should have obtained the minimum stipulated score in CWE conducted IBPS in Nov Dec 2011, for the post. The cut off of TWSS has been stated in para 3(C) above. Candidates will have to produce the Original Score card issued by IBPS in support of the scores mentioned in the PNB Bank Clerk Recruitment 2012 online application form, if called for further Punjab National Bank selection processes such as PNB Bank Personal Interview etc.
Relaxation in Upper Age Limit :

| iv) All persons who are ordinarily been domiciled in kashmir division of J & K State during 01.01.80 to 31.12.89 | 5 years |
| v) Ex – Servicemen | 3 years in addition to the actual period of service rendered in Defence services subject to a maximum age of 50 years. |
| vi) Widows, Divorced women & women judicially separated from their husbands & who are not remarried. | 9 years |
| vii) Children / family members of those who died in the 1984 riots | 3 years |
Note :
a) The relaxation in upper age limit is cumulative as per Govt of India guidelines.
b) Once an Ex - serviceman has joined a Govt. job on the civil side after availing of the benefits given to him as an Ex – serviceman for his re – employment, his ex – serviceman status for the purpose of re – employment in Govt. ceases.
c) Candidates still serving in Defence Services and desirous of applying under Ex – Servicemen category should submit a discharge certificate from the competent authority.
d) Ex – servicemen candidates who have already secured employment under the Central Govt. in Group ‘ C ’ & ‘ D ’ will be permitted the benefit of age relaxation as prescribed for Ex – Servicemen for securing another employment in a higher grade or cadre in Group ‘ C ’ / ’ D ’ under the Central Govt. However, such candidates will not be eligible for the benefit of reservation for Ex – Servicemen in Central Govt. jobs.
e) All persons eligible for age relaxation under point 3 (iv) above must possess a domicile certificate from the District Magistrate of Kashmir division within whose jurisdiction he / she had ordinarily resided, or any other authority designated in this regard by the Govt of Jammu & Kashmir, to the effect that the candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the Kashmir division of the state of Jammu & Kashmir from 1st January 1980 to 31st December 1989.
f) All persons eligible for age relaxation under point 3 (vii) above must possess a certificate from the competent authority to the effect that their father / mother / family member died in the 1984 riots.
The above relaxations are available only if the candidate fulfils the various conditions prescribed in the Govt. of India orders and instructions in this regard.
Definitions :
Ex – Serviceman ( EXSM ) :
(i) Only those candidates shall be treated as Ex – Servicemen who fulfill the revised definition as laid down in Govt. of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Dept. of Personnel & Administrative Reforms Notification No.36034/5/85/Estt ( SCT ) dated 27.10.1986 as amended from time to time.
(ii) Disabled Ex – Servicemen ( DISXS ) :
Ex – Servicemen who while serving in Armed Forces of the Union were disabled in operation against the enemy or in disturbed areas shall be treated as DISXS.
Persons with Disability ( PWD ) :
Definition of Categories of Disabilities :
(a) An Orthopedically Challenged ( OC ) person is one suffering from Locomotor Disability or Cerebral Palsy.
Locomotor Disability means disability of the bones, joints or muscles leading to substantial restriction of the movement of the limbs or any form of cerebral palsy.
Cerebral Palsy means a group of non progressive conditions of a person characterized by abnormal motor control posture resulting from brain insult or injuries occurring in the prenatal, peri – natal, or infant period of development.
(b) Deaf & Hearing Impaired ( HI ) :
The deaf are those persons in whom the sense of hearing is non – functional for ordinary purposes of life i.e. total loss of hearing in both ears. They do not hear; understand sounds at all even with amplified speech. Hearing impairment means loss of sixty decibels or more in the better ear in the conversational range of frequencies.
(c) Visually Impaired ( VI ) :
The visually impaired persons are those suffering from blindness or low vision.
Blindness – refers to a condition where a person suffers from any of the following conditions :
- total absence of sight.
- Visual acuity not exceeding 6/60 or 20/200 ( Snellen ) in the better eye with correcting lenses.
- Limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of 20 degree or worse.
Person with low vision – means a person with impairment of visual functioning even after treatment or standard refractive correction, but who uses or is potentially capable of using vision for the planning or execution of a task with appropriate assistive device.
Degree Disability for reservation :
Only such person will be eligible for reservation in service / post who suffers from not less than 40% of relevant disability. A person who wants to avail of benefit of reservation would have to submit a Disability Certificate by a competent authority ( Medical Board appointed by the Center / State Govt ).
