Green Climate Fund (GCF) in Maharashtra

The 2030 Water Resources Group (2030WRG) will help the Maharashtra Government to raise $270 million from the Green Climate Fund (GCF).

The amount raised will be invested in state government’s integrated watershed programmes such as Jalyukt Shivar Yojana which has successfully augmented.

India’s first solar powered DEMU train launched

India’s first Solar powered DEMU ( Diesel Electric Multiple Unit ) train was launched between Sarai Rohilla in Delhi to Farukh Nagar in Haryana.

Solar powered DEMU train would result in the saving of 5.25 lakh litres of diesel per train over a life time of 25 years. It will also help in reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) of almost 9 tonnes per coach, per annum and 1350 tons of CO2 per train over a life time of 25 years.

1,600 horsepower train has been manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, its solar system and panels have been developed and fitted by the Indian Railways Organization of Alternative Fuel (IROAF).

JIO launches 100Gbps Submarine Cable

Reliance Jio Infocomm has launched the Asia-Africa-Europe (AAE-1) 100Gbps technology based submarine cable system.

It stretches for over 25,000km from Marseille, France to Hong Kong. It will have 21 cable landings across Asia and Europe. Using it, Jio will continue to offer its customers the most exceptional high speed internet and digital service experience.

The Indian Government had made it mandatory to link Aadhaar with PAN. The Income Tax department has launched an e-facility to link an individual’s Aadhaar number with the Permanent Account Number (PAN).

How to link Aadhar with Pan Card

  1. Goto Link Aadhaar site by clicking
  2. Enter the PAN Number, Aadhaar number and Name as in Aadhaar card.
  3. If the Date of Birth is not mentioned in the Aadhaar card, click on the check box.
  4. Enter the captcha code and Click Link Aadhaar
  5. A pop up message ” Aadhaar-PAN linking is completed Successfully” will appear.

World Book Capital

UNESCO has announced Sharjah as the World Book Capital for 2019. “Read – you are in Sharjah”, the program focuses on six themes: inclusivity, reading, heritage, outreach, publishing and children.

Because of its creative and innovative work, the city was selected for the title.

The earlier cities which were named as World Book Capital are:

Madrid (2001), Alexandria (2002), New Delhi (2003), Antwerp (2004), Montreal (2005), Turin (2006), Bogota (2007), Amsterdam (2008), Beirut (2009), Ljubljana (2010), Buenos Aires (2011), Yerevan (2012), Bangkok (2013), Port Harcourt (2014), Incheon (2015), Wroclaw (2016), Conakry (2017) and Athens (2018).

Blood Bank for Cattle

The Blood Bank for Cattle will be set up in Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) premises. The cost of the project is estimated as 3.25 crore.

Odisha will be the first state in the country to open Blood Bank for Cattle.

The Blood Bank will prevent Cattle deaths during deliveries and other ailments

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has ordered for the printing of 200 notes. The new Rs 200 notes will be circulated by Bank because ATM machines throughout the country has to be recalibrated.

Launch of PSLV-C38

ISRO Chairman A S Kiran told media after the successful launch of PSLV-C38 that Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle carried 712 Kg Cartosat-2 series satellite and 243 kg 30 co-passenger satellites to observe the Earth. The satellite mission was launched from the First Launch Pad of Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. NIUSAT satellite is designed and developed by Noorul Islam University, Kanyakumari. The purpose of NIUSAT is to provide multi-spectral imagery for agricultural crop monitoring and disaster management support applications.
